VA Clothing Allowance

If a service-connected prosthetic/orthopedic device or prescribed skin medication damages your clothing, VA may pay you $1,053.19.

Program Overview

The VA Clothing Allowance is an annual payment for veterans whose service-connected prosthetic or orthopedic devices, or prescribed skin medications, cause damage or excessive wear to their clothing. The current annual rate is $1,053.19 per qualifying device or medication, and a veteran can receive more than one allowance if multiple qualifying items apply.

How to Apply

  2. 2File between August 1 and August 31 each year for the annual payment
  3. 3Your VA facility's prosthetics department reviews and processes the claim
